Happy St. Paddy's!

Photobucket

Oh how I love this holiday. I'm not Catholic, but there is just enough Irish in me to really get in to the drunken revelry of St. Patrick's Day.

I have a full bottle of Jameson's and a fridge full of Guinness, The Quiet Man- and in a few hours, a giant plate of food that will go straight to me'arteries.
The Menu:

Braised pork shoulder w/ grain mustard jus- so sue me, I'm not making corned beef. I forgot to start the brine and had to wing it. We'll have pulled pork sandwiches rather than reubens. I'm a little depressed about it, but I'm sure I'll pull through.

Colcannon heavy on the kale, for the sake of my lovehandles

soda bread that actually tastes good.

Guinness ice cream with whiskey caramel hence all of the open bottles of guinness- for the reduction...

I'll most likely not be blogging any of this. I'm just hanging out, waiting for the ice cream to finish churning and felt like sharing.

Nice. A friend used to have stout icecream on the menu at her restaurant and it was wonderful - the whiskey caramel would be perfect!

Cat- I've been serving the guinness ice cream @ the restaurants with caramel, brownies, AND a little shot of Jameson's to pour over it, a la Irish car bomb....

That sounds super yummy. I want the colcannon now. We had the traditional stuff last night with friends and we all wished we had a serving of your guinness ice cream. You might have a few more people asking about it at Betty soon.

By the way, interesting new look. I like it...I think.

Brooke- HELP ME. I wanted a new look and to lose the pink, but I'm not sure about this whole disaster.
It was close to midnight last night when I started playing with the template. Bad idea. Help. Monday?

I will be happy to help, but can we do Sunday instead? The wretched day arrived yesterday...flex time on "hold" so I have to work Monday. Sunday? Fun times?

No! Please blog it - or at least post the guinness ice cream! I only came across your blog yesterday, and loved it so much had another look tonight (and plan to nick many many recipes) but PLEASE, guinness ice cream! Not that we British have an unhealthy enthusiasm for all things booze or anything...

Yar te tar har tar tar. That's the only Irish I know.

I like pink, meself, but I guess that's what the rhubarb is for.

B- Sunday no bueno. Sad. We'll figure sumthin out.

Anon- basically, reduce a bottle of guinness down to about 4 oz, then stir that into a vanilla ice cream base, along with a few drops of molasses. Churn.

Heather- I think I'm going through a phase where I am taking both my blog and myself too seriously. I just need to fucking chillax.

How can you NOT blog the ice cream!? TEASE!

Mmm, Irish soda bread. I managed to miss out on that this year, and instead went straight to the beer (a decision I deeply regretted the following morning). Your menu is very enticing.

Don't remember what led me to your blog yesterday, but I've been in heaven scrolling through your recipes. The most gorgeous pies EVER!!! Incredible sorbet ideas!! Every recipe sounds so tempting & the photos are killing me! Good grief woman. Where have you been hiding?!?

Please - for my sanity & to help me find some of these fantastic recipes again - please add a recipe index! So many incredible recipes to try & no patience to prowl through each days blog to get back to the 1 I'm looking for on that particular day.

You're recipes & photos would knock em dead on Food Gawker! Thank you for sharing your recipes & great photos. ;o}

Brittany- I know. I didn't take any pictures though! I was too drunk! I think a photo-less blog post might be upsetting some law of nature. I don't want to risk it.

Jessica- you had your priorities in check.

Pea- auggghhhhh. drool.

Elyse- The ice cream is delish. Especially when whiskey is poured over it, a la Irish car bomb.

Val- welcome! I'm glad you stumbled upon this silly little blog. But you have caught it in transition. There will be a lot of changes happening in the next month (improvements), and thank you for the recipe index suggestion- there will be one up soon.

I like the new look; the pink threatened my masculinity. I was ashamed to come here, lest someone glimpse the site over my shoulder.

But I think you could add a more "ye olde" element by using an 18th century font and spelling it "Talef from the Paftry Kitchene."

There are no playback controls on the cable, but honestly, thats not that Dr. Dre Tour Earphone surprising. I do wish Monster had more cable options for this model like the Studios though Sac Herms 2012. Instead, you do get an extra feature, relating to the cable Px90. You can daisy chain numerous Beats Pros since theres an input/output connection on each can Jimmy Choo Handbags. If youre in a studio environment, this could be helpful, or even if you just want to listen to the same audio source with friends. This also gives you the option of which side of your head youd like to have the cable on.

The Beats Pros come in any color, just as long as that color is either black or white. Inside the box, youll find some standard reading materials, a cleaning cloth and bag for transportation. This is an interesting choice, since the Beats Studios come with a hard shell case thats clearly more protective than the bag included here Christian Louboutin Boots. That said, the Beats Studios are made of plastic, not metal, like the Pros. So maybe they dont need to be protected as much Sac Louis Vuitton Pas Cher.
